Calhoun Co. Commission honors "Pappy" Dunn at meeting
CALHOUN COUNTY, AL (WBRC)- Today's Calhoun County Commission meeting began with silence to honor the memory of late Commissioner James "Pappy" Dunn, who passed away two weeks ago at the age of 92.
Dunn served on the commission for more than 25 years, and was the first African-American elected to a countywide office.
Thursday morning the county's engineer offered a prayer for the other four commissioners.
"Father I know that Pappy would've wanted us to continue forward, to move on, Father, to guidethis county, for these men to be granted wisdom, clarity of thought," Brian Rosenbalm said. There's still no word on when Gov. Bentley might appoint a replacement for Dunn or call for a special election. Copyright 2012 WBRC. All rights reserved.
