State asks Ala. Supreme Court to reconsider PACT ruling

MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC)- There's a new twist with the state's prepaid tuition plan. The Alabama Supreme Court has reopened a lawsuit over whether a financial settlement of the program can stand.

The board of the "Prepaid Affordable College Tuition Plan" had reached a settlement for the financially troubled program to pay tuition at 2010 rates rather than current rates.

Some parents challenged this settlement in court and the supreme court voided the settlement in March, ruling that it violated state law.

Then the legislature passed a law in April that was designed to restore the settlement. Today, The supreme court granted a request by state officials to reconsider its March ruling.
